Conceived in the early 1990s, our Project aims to provide a community wide life-long learning centre based on the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, affording cultural and educational learning opportunities from cradle to grave to all in its local community and beyond.
We are a registered charity (no 1037313) and operate as a company limited by guarantee (no 2921716).
This building is on English Heritage's 'Buildings At Risk' register. Over the last 10 years, we have painstakingly repaired and restored it, relying mainly on local volunteers for the labour and skills we needed.
Much has been achieved. The Project currently provides services to over 200 families through its school, kindergarten and toddler playgroup programmes. Local community groups make over 1,000 hours use of the building per year.
But so much more can be done to realize the Project's aims, which include:
- The provision of adult education to all who need it
- A community theatre and multi-use performance space for use by local groups
- A visitor's centre that celebrates the building and its heritage in the local community
This website tells you something of how we have got this far - and how we plan to take things even further in realizing the Project's aims!
